January 15: Ankur Tiwari & The Ghalat Family

In the last few years, our indie scene has exploded with loads of fresh new acts making their presence felt through the nation. While many of these create songs in English, we've seen some phenomenal folk and rock musicians singing in their vernacular tongue, making waves by juxtaposing eastern harmonies with western symphonies.

We've always been very proud to provide a strong platform for indie artists across the country, and today, High Spirits feels it's the right moment to launch a bi-monthly night dedicated specifically for Hindi-Indie and folk musicians, aptly named 'Indiestan'.

This Wednesday, we launch Indiestan with Ankur and The Ghalat Family, an acoustic/folk rock Hindi band that’s comprised of the mellow voice and words of Ankur Tewari and his three crazy friends – Sidd Coutto (drums), Johan Pais (bass) and Gaurav Gupta (guitar)
